Ceramic Rings
ARE CERAMIC RINGS A GOOD IDEA?
As a matter of fact, Ceramic Rings are not always the go-to choice for many people. However, it’s a unique material to be made into fine jewelry and the gloss and finish of ceramic make these pieces even more alluring. Also, the main selling point of this type of ring is that it requires little to no maintenance, much like tungsten!
WILL MEN’S CERAMIC WEDDING BANDS BREAK?
Anything that you do not take good care of will break – if not now, eventually. Much like Tungsten, Ceramic is a heavy material (not as heavy as the former, but still comparably heavier than other ring materials). That said, it can also be quite brittle. Treasure Men’s Ceramic Wedding Bands as you would treasure your partner. Don’t make them fall and break.
I HEARD CERAMIC WEDDING RINGS ARE HYPOALLERGENIC?
AND… RIGHT YOU ARE! Ceramic Wedding Rings are indeed hypoallergenic which make them the perfect option for people with a nickel allergy or sensitive skin, overall.
What Are Ceramic Rings?
When most people think of ceramic, they think of grandma’s cat figurine or that piece of pottery they got at a craft fair. Porcelain, china, and other earthenware are all forms of ceramic, yes, and most of us have owned something of this nature before.
For all of its class and beauty, ceramic is one of the most remarkable mediums for producing decorative or symbolic art. However, most examples we can think of end with mom’s antique china crashing to the floor and exploding into a million pieces after we reached for some Skittles as a kid.
The word “ceramic” derives from the Greek word meaning “potter’s clay.” Though that’s what we most commonly envision when we think of ceramic objects, the world is filled with ceramics for thousands of applications. From bathroom tile to high tech semiconductor equipment to fine jewelry, we truly live in a ceramic age.
In short, ceramics are inorganic, non-metallic materials that one can shape and form after heating at high temperatures.
Choosing Ceramic as a Wedding Band
With all of this in mind, the question going through your head is probably, “Well, doesn’t this stuff break easily?”
Ceramics made for jewelry are among the hardest materials in the world, even harder than tungsten carbide. Ceramic rings are virtually unscratchable, cannot be stained, and are not susceptible to dents, either. Because of their hardness, however, they could crack or even break if dropped on a hard surface, much like tungsten.
Ceramic is what is referred to as a refractory material, which means it can withstand a fireball attack from a character out of Street Fighter. In addition to the ridiculously high melting point, ceramics are very chemically stable.
This chemical stability means ceramic is more resistant to corrosion than most other metals. So if you are a mad scientist who works with acids all day (unlikely), or (more likely) if you swim in chlorinated pools or salty oceans, a ceramic wedding band is a great choice.
The trademark is its beautiful shine that does not fade over time. With occasional light cleaning, ceramic wedding bands will maintain its luster forever and never tarnish. It is also lightweight in comparison to metals, making it more comfortable to wear for many people. It is also less likely to leave indentations on the skin because of its lightness.
Because of its composition, ceramic is more likely to stand the test of time when compared to many other wedding band materials. However, it is essential to note that due to its hardness, ceramic rings cannot be resized. You will want to keep this in mind when selecting your new wedding ring.
The Ceramic Wedding Bands Collection
The Maxwell is one of our favorite white ceramic rings. It elicits animalistic feelings with a bold design that is sure to turn heads wherever you go. The white surface is so smooth and shiny you’ll need blinders to look at it.
No list would be complete without a shout out to the Cruz. This handsome black ring looks like the kind of thing a kid from Stranger Things would rock when he grows up. The red and black geometric inlay beautifully augments the premium ceramic surface.
Ah, then we have the Blaine. A startling red inlay is paired with our most popular black ceramic, making this one of our favorite pieces. The sheen of this ring is so bright and striking you could see it buried under a pile of volcanic ash. Not to mention it kind of looks like it was forged from lava.
Ceramic Rings Are Hypoallergenic and Easy To Care For
Because it is a non-metal, ceramic wedding bands are an excellent choice for people with a known metal allergy. Metal sensitivities are increasingly common today, so this is an essential factor to note. Ceramic will not cause swelling, rash, or skin discoloration that some other metals may cause.
Ceramic is also not conducive to electricity. So if you are an electrician or work with electrical equipment, you can rest easy wearing your shiny ring.
Best of all, you won’t need to open a pottery museum to take care of your ring. A little mild soap, warm water, and a lint-free cloth are all you’ll need to keep your ring as shiny and smooth as the day you got it.
